Concreting FAQs

Common questions about our concreting services on the Kapiti Coast.

How much does concreting cost on the Kapiti Coast?
Costs depend on the area, finish type, site access and preparation required. As a rough guide, standard concrete starts from around $80–$120 per square metre, with exposed aggregate and decorative finishes costing more. The best way to get an accurate price is to book a free consultation - we'll measure up and quote based on your specific project.
What's the difference between standard concrete and exposed aggregate?
Standard concrete has a smooth or brushed surface finish and is the most cost-effective option. Exposed aggregate has small stones visible on the surface, giving it a textured, decorative look with better grip - making it a popular choice for driveways and paths on the Kāpiti Coast. We can show you samples of both during your consultation.
How long does a concrete driveway or patio take to complete?
Most residential concrete jobs take 2–5 days depending on the size and complexity. That includes excavation, base preparation, formwork, pouring and finishing. The concrete then needs around 7 days to cure before you can drive on it (for driveways) or 2–3 days for foot traffic on paths and patios.
Do I need a building consent for concrete work?
Most standard residential concreting — driveways, paths, patios — doesn't require building consent. However, if the concrete work involves retaining walls over 1.5 metres, changes to stormwater drainage, or is part of a larger build, consent may be required. We'll advise you during the quoting process.
Will my new concrete crack?
All concrete has the potential to develop minor hairline cracks over time — it's a natural characteristic of the material. However, proper site preparation, correct reinforcement, control joints and a managed curing process significantly reduce the risk. We take all of these steps on every job to give you the most durable result possible
