We visit your property, walk the site with you, discuss how you use the space and what you'd like to change. We assess the terrain, sun, wind, drainage, access and soil conditions - then talk through ideas, materials and a realistic budget range.

We develop a concept design based on your brief - laying out zones, levels, structures, planting areas and hard landscaping elements. We present this to you for feedback and refine it until you're happy with the direction before moving to detailed drawings.

We produce the final detailed plans - including dimensions, materials specifications, planting schedules and construction notes. These plans are ready to build from, whether our team is doing the construction or you're working with another contractor.

How much does landscape design cost?
Design fees depend on the size and complexity of the project. A simple design for a single area like a patio or garden bed might cost a few hundred dollars, while a full property master plan with detailed drawings will cost more. We'll give you a clear price for the design work upfront during the initial consultation - no surprises.
What's the difference between a landscape design and a landscape plan?
A landscape design is the creative concept - the overall layout, the look and feel, how the spaces connect and flow. A landscape plan is the detailed technical drawing that comes from that design - with measurements, levels, materials specs and construction notes that a builder can work from. We provide both as part of our design service.
How long does the design process take?
Most residential landscape designs take 2-4 weeks from initial consultation to final plans, depending on the complexity. A straightforward single-area design might be quicker, while a full property master plan with multiple zones, planting schedules and consent drawings will take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline at the start.
Can you design for sloped or difficult sections?
Absolutely. Sloped and challenging sections are some of the most rewarding projects to design for. The Kapiti Coast has plenty of them. We design with the terrain rather than fighting it - using retaining walls, terracing, level changes and smart drainage to turn difficult ground into functional, attractive outdoor spaces.
